Period 1:
In the first four weeks of 2023, there were a total of 42 toy notification cases published by the EU RAPEX system, coming from Lithuania, the Netherlands, France, Finland, Poland, Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland, Sweden, Belgium, and Hungary. The Canadian Health Department‘s website reported zero cases, the Australian Product Safety Recalls website reported two cases, and the US CPSC website reported zero cases. Except for the cases reported on the Australian Product Safety Recalls website that did not specify the country of origin for the toys, 38 out of all the cases reported were related to China.
Period 2:
In the fifth to eighth weeks of 2023, there were a total of 35 toy notification cases published by the EU RAPEX system, coming from France, Finland, Poland, Italy, Czech Republic, Greece, Croatia, Luxembourg, Ireland, Slovakia, Latvia, Belgium, and Romania. The Canadian Health Department’s website reported two cases, the Australian Product Safety Recalls website reported three cases, and the US CPSC website reported two cases. Except for the cases reported on the Australian Product Safety Recalls website that did not specify the country of origin for the toys, 33 out of all the cases reported were related to China.
Period 3:
In the ninth to twelfth weeks of 2023, there were a total of 43 toy notification cases published by the EU RAPEX system, coming from Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Hungary, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Romania, Sweden, and the Netherlands. The UK Product Safety and Standards Department’s website reported four cases, the Canadian Health Department’s website reported four cases, the Australian Product Safety Recalls website reported zero cases, and the US CPSC website reported zero cases. Except for the cases reported on the Australian Product Safety Recalls website that did not specify the country of origin for the toys, 42 out of all the cases reported were related to China.
The main reasons for the reported cases were: containing or easily producing small parts, exceeding the limit of phthalates content, exceeding the limit of migration of boron, etc.
