Recently, Health Canada recalled 3 types sleepwear made in China, Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has identified that the 3 types of the recalled sleepwear do not meet the design and flammability requirements for children's sleepwear under Canadian law.
Children's sleepwear that is loose fitting or that has loose edges can contact ignition sources easily. Once ignited the sleepwear can burn rapidly and cause severe burns to large areas of the child's body resulting in shock and sometimes death.
The 3 types recalled sleepwears are as follows:
1. Nass Girl Sleepwear, including: a children's robe with model number HG3468 and UPC 149499000001, and a nightgown with model number HG3478 and UPC 149500000033.
2. Children's Disney Princess Pyjamas, The tag inside the collar on the T-shirt has "CA# 10611 / RN# 94006" and "manufactured by Paris Geneve" on it.
3. NHL-themed Children's Sleepwear by Mighty Mac Sports,CA Number: 30958.
According to the(Hazardous Products (Children's Sleepwear) Regulations [SOR/87-443]), Every product, when tested in accordance with the procedures set out in Schedule I, shall have :
(a) an average char length for five specimens that does not exceed 178 mm;
and
(b) not more than one individual specimen with a char length equal to the full
length of the specimen (254 mm).
