US Will Eliminated the Exemption of Fur Products with Low Value

The Senate of the United States authorized an Act "Truth in Fur Labeling Act of 2010" H.R.2480, which amended the label of all fur products including fur fashions. The Act eliminated the exemption of labeling requirements for products containing relatively small quantities or values of fur. The amendment shall take effect after 90 days starting from the date of the enactment of this Act.
The Act also includes an article which is an exemption in Fair Packaging and Labeling Act (FPLA) about the fur discrete sales of fur products by non-retailers, and by the following ways the products are obtained:
(1) obtained from an animal through trapping or hunting;
(2) sold in a face to face transaction at a place such as a residence, craft fair or other location used on a temporary or short term basis, by the person who trapped or hunted the animal, where the revenue from the sale of apparel or fur products is not the primary source of income of such person.
In addition, not later than 90 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Federal Trade Commission shall publish in the Federal Register notice of, and an opportunity to comment on, a review of the Fur Products Name Guide (16 CFR. 301.0).
Recently, the Act has been passed by the House, and subsequently submitted to the Senate for vote, and then will take effect after signed by the President. The whole process may last till to the second half of this year.
