The Danish Minister of Environment, Karen Ellemann wishes to introduce a Danish ban on the use of four dangerous phthalates. This is the first time that a ban is based on the cocktail-effect of chemicals. The four phthalates are DEHP, DBP, DIBP and BBP.
The Danish Environmental Protection Agency has submitted a proposal to the European Chemicals Agency to ban import and sale of products con-taining the four phthalates DEHP, DBP, DIBP and BBP.
Phthalates are a group of substances which are primarily used as plasticizer in PVC,such as Shower curtains, vinyl flooring, air mattresses, etc.
