EU is going to spread banning scope of Bisphenol A, the enterprise shall get rea

A few days ago, Hong Kong TDC issued that the European consumers union which is the Europe's leading consumer organizations was pressuring towards the European commission, they claimed to spread the banning scope of the present which only contained baby plastic bottles with Bisphenol A. Besides the products having direct contact with the baby with Bisphenol A, the Union specially listed another 12 categories including Bisphenol A, and calling for ceasing selling all products containing Bisphenol A in 2-3 years in Europe. Therefore, not only the domestic baby plastic bottles export enterprise need to be watchful to the ban, but also the other Chinese industries and enterprises exporting "stuck" effect will  appears gradually, because this might be just the prologue of Bisphenol A’s chain effect.

However, the European Commission has not make the official response to this statement, but in insiders opinion, resisting products with Bisphenol A will become a consensus of European and other countries, and this consensus will turn into a new green barriers in the international trade much more likely. Thus, the domestic related export enterprise should pay more attention and adjust early.

The ban of Bisphenol A rise from all directions

Ban of Bisphenol A also presents rapidly spreading to mult-industries besides the infant plastic bottles commodity. The Eu is not the first country to ban on Bisphenol A. Canada had carried out two bans on Bisphenol A in 2009 and 2010; Later, states of US and French all banned on the import and sales of production with Bisphenol A.

For now, although the Commission had not declared, but the its member countries had already started: on 15th April 2011, Sweden Chemicals Authority and Swedish National Food Administration publicly suggest taking various measures to avoid Bisphenol A exposed to children. Suggestions and measures include taking appropriate action on the basis of REACH. Canada is first country announcing bisphenol A for poisonous substances in the the world, in its ban list of Bisphenol A in 2010 only eight kinds of products are explicitly mentioned for banning.

Enterprise shall get ready early

It is reported that the so-called Bisphenol A is a chemical raw materials, adding it can make the plastic products colorless transparent, durable, lightly, and prominent prevent during the manufacturing process, also it  can prevent acidic fruits and vegetables from eroding internal metal containers, so it is usually used for canned food and beverage packaging, sealed plastic used in bottles, water bottle, teeth filler, glass lens and other hundreds of commodities manufacturing process.

Export enterprise is closely watching foreign policy trend, at the same time, they still need choose whether to adjust industry according to themselves. Enterprises exporting polycarbonate (PC) products should take production transformation or look for substitute of Bisphenol A.
