News on 7th June 2011 reported that the European food safety agency (EFSA) recently updated the regulations of food contact and materials.
EFSA has checked the existing regulations of food contact materials including the temporary additive list on the plastic food contact materials; application of license registration on effectively reducing recycle plastic materials procedure as well as the regulations of European Union and the relevant national laws used in the production of food contact plastic material and so on.
Specific regulations include: Regulation(EC) No 1935/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food and repealing Directives 80/590/EEC and 89/109/EEC. Regulation(EC) No 2023/2006 amending Regulations (EC) No 1607/2000, (EC) No 1622/2000 and (EC) No 2729/2000 concerning the wine sector by reason of the accession of Bulgaria and Romania to the European Union.
