The Californian Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) has announced a proposed amendment to Proposition 65 to reflect recent findings that hexavalent chromium compounds can be carcinogenic following oral exposure.
Previously, hexavalent chromium was listed in a section of the regulations as posing no significant risk when ingested. The OEHHA is proposing to remove this reference, subject to a public comment period with the deadline 31 October 2011.
