The Danish Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has sent draft regulations to the European Commission for certain products containing the phthalates DEHP, DBP, BBP, and DIBP.
The draft regulation proposes a ban on the import and sale of products that contain one or more of these four phthalates in a concentration greater than 0.1% by weight of any plasticised material. The ban is limited to products intended for indoor use and other products that contain the phthalates in parts of the product which may come into contact with skin or mucous membranes.
But it excludes certain products such as the following which fall under other legislation.
1) Medical equipment
2) Inner packaging of medicinal products
3) Toys
4) Infant care articles
5) Cosmetic products
6) Materials and articles intended to contact food
7) Second-hand products that complied with Danish requirements when first sold
