EU has built up a specific mechanism to notify products violating relevant regulations and standards for the sake of consumers. The notification for non-food consumer products is called RAPEX. According to the 38th week notification, one China leather insole has been notified for containing Cr (VI). Detail information is showed below:
Germany requires voluntary withdrawal of one China leather insole from market for it contains 16mg/kg Cr (VI).
Chromium (VI) is classified as sensitising and may trigger allergic reactions. Though the content of Cr (VI) in the leather insole does not violate the requirement to Cr (VI) under REACH regulation, the notification of it in RAPEX will bring negative impact to the sale of it. In this case, we still can learn that Germany’s control on Cr (VI) in leather product is stricter than that under regulation.
As a professional third testing body, CTT reminds you to keep close cooperation with relevant testing body to learn contents of hazardous substances existing in products so as to make right strategy to ensure products can smoothly enter EU market.
