Europe to amend the Barium limit under toys Directive

On January 2013, European Union Commission notified WTO secretariat G/TBT/N/EU/83 to amends the limit values for barium in toys,ensuring alignment of the latest scientific
evidence and increase children's safety. The new limits are showed as the following:
 
Category 1, in dry, brittle, powerlike or pliable toy material: 1500mg/kg;
Category 2, in liquid or sticky toy material: 375mg/kg;
Category 3, in scrapped-off toy material: 18750mg/kg.
