On 16 May 2013, Egypt submitted WTO a notification G/TBT/N/EGY/36 on a new draft Child use and care articles-Drinking equipment. This draft include two parts, General and mechanical requirements and tests, and Chemical requirements and tests.
The Draft standard for child use and care articles-Drinking equipment Part:1 is concerned with the general and mechanical requirements and tests of the materials used in the manufacture of the following:
a. Feeding nipples and reusable drinking supplies;
b. Feeding bottles and reusable drinking cups;
c. Feeding bottles, nipples, nutrition feeding bags and drinking supplies for one-time use and does not contain fluids at the time of purchase.
The Draft standard for child use and care articles-Drinking equipment part: 2 is concerned with chemical requirements and tests and specifies liberation limits for specific chemicals of the materials used in the manufacture of drinking tools for the following:
a. Feeding nipples and reusable drinking supplies;
b. Feeding bottles and reusable drinking cups;
c. Feeding bottles, nipples, nutrition feeding bags and drinking supplies for one-time use and does not contain fluids at the time of purchase.
This draft mainly refers to EN 14350 a counterpart standard in EU. Final date for comments is 60 dates as of circulation from the date of the notification.
