EU toys safety standard EN 71-1:2011 amendment A2:2013 published

Amendment A2: 2013 of EN 71-1:2011 Toys safety part 1: mechanical and physical performance was published by EU recently. It will be implemented in the near future.

The main changes in this amendment EN 71-1 A2: 2013 are the requirements of emission sound pressure levels for acoustics toys. It also revises and adds some definitions in order to specify the scope of acoustics toys, more details are as followed:

1. Revise the following existing definitions:

_close-to-the-ear toy

_hand-held toy

_rattle

_squeeze toy

_table-top or floor toy

2. Add the following new definitions:

_child actuated toy

_mouth actuated toy designed to emit sound

_pull-along or push toy

_voice actuated toy

_self-propelled toy

_emission sound pressure level

_time-averaged sound pressure level

3. Main changes in acoustics requirements:

New definitions of 4 categories of sound category are introduced. The requirements as well as test methods are revised. More details about requirements in the amendment A2:2013 please refer to the following table:
