On June 4, 2012, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of People’s Republic of China (MIIT) has published a new Administration Measure on Electronic and Electrical Equipment (EEE) for public comment. This new Measure aims at better controlling and reducing hazardous substances releasing from waste electronic information products (EIP) and other relevant waste products, and is to be geared to international standards against hazardous substances in EEE.
In relation to the original Administration Measure on Electronic Information Products, the new one enlarges the control scope from EIP to all EEE, scope of which is seemly equal to that under EU RoHS.
Hazardous substance controlled still remained 6 kinds, lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chrome, polybrominated biphenyl and polybrominated diphenyl ethers.
This Measure would still be implemented in two steps. Step one: relevant company provide self-announcement to tell consumers names and contents of hazardous substances in one product, and affix mark of safe use period and possibility to recycle. Step two: endeavor to guide the industry to reduce use of or substitute hazardous substances. Content of the controlled substances in products that have been put into the compulsorily list of administration measure shall not exceed limit under GB/T 26572-2011.
Scope under this revised measure enlarges greatly this time. As a professional third party testing body, CTT remind you to put close eyes on this revision, preparing from product designing to production management to make sure your products can meet coming requirements under this new measure and fasten your competitive power in the market to some extent.
