On 23 November 2012, EU published a harmonized standard EN 50581:2012 to support basic requirements of RoHS 2.0 2011/65/EU.
RoHS 2.0 requires manufacturers to provide technical documents. And what shall be set forth in a technical document and how to stipulate it are prescribed under EN 50581.
Basic content of technical document are
1. General description of the product
2. Documents for materials, parts and/or sub-assemblies
3. Information showing the relationship between the technical documents and the corresponding materials, part and/or sub-assemblies
4. List of harmonized standards and/or other technical specifications that have been used
The above 2 Documents for materials, parts and/or sub-assemblies including
1) Supplier declarations and/or contractual agreements and/or
2) Material declarations and/or
3) Analytical test results
Steps to prepare technical documents:
Determine the information needed à collect the information à evaluate the information à ensure the technical documentation remains valid
Steps to stipulate technical documents:
Supplier and material confidence assessment à documents for materials, part, and /or sub-assemblies à evaluate of quality and trustworthiness à content of the technical documentation
