The European Commission published the new regulation (EU) No 1183/2012 to amend and correct Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food on 12th, Dec, 2012. This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following its publication. The following showa what has been amended:
1. Annex I to Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 is amended in this Regulation, including FCM substances CAS number, new substances in the monomer and additive sheet.
2. Plastic materials and articles which have been lawfully placed on the market before 1 January 2013 and which do not comply with this Regulation may continue to be placed on the market until 1 January 2014. Those plastic materials and articles may remain on the market until the exhaustion of stocks.
(EU) No 10/2011 is the regulaiton on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, effective on 2011 May 1 and regulating plastics, plastic multi-layer materials and articles held together by adhesives or by other means, plastic layers or plastic coatings, forming gaskets in caps and closures, that together with those caps and closure compose a set of two or more layers of different types of materials and plastic layers in multi-material multi-layer materials and articles. But this regulaiton is not applicable for ion exchange resin, rubber and silicones. It replaces Commission Directive 2002/72/EC.
