The Center for Environmental Health (CEH) on Thursday announced 14 manufacturers and retailers of children’s products containing TDCPP listed under Proposition 65.
The organization commissioned independent testing of 16 infant and children’s products and found levels of TDCPP exceeding its No Significant Risk Level of 5.4 μg/day under Proposition 65. The NSRL for TDCPP took effect on October 20, 2012.
TDCPP was listed under Proposition 65 as a carcinogen. But according to CEH, makers of children’s products continue to use foam treated with the chemical, even in products that pose no fire danger. “Infants and young children, who are at critical stages of their development, should not be sleeping on products doused with these ticking chemical time bombs,“ said Michael Green, Executive Director of the Center for Environmental Health. “It’s past time for companies to take steps towards eliminating these harmful chemicals from products for our children and families.”
